Getting Settled In
Being a pop-up cinema in the beautiful outdoors, there is no fixed seating at Moonlight Flicks. You are welcome to bring your own seats with you – deck chairs, camping chairs, bean bags or picnic blankets – or hire a deck chair from us (cash only). Seating is unreserved, so just find any spot you wish to give yourself a good view.
Moonlight Flicks is a great place for an evening picnic, and you are welcome to bring whatever food and drink you wish (including alcohol – the venue is fully licensed for this). There will also be hot food to purchase on the evening.
Food and Drink
Moonlight Flicks will have a range of snacks, crisps, sweets and, of course, popcorn on offer to purchase at the Roman Gardens. Also available is soft drinks and a range of wine and craft beers.
You are very welcome to bring your own snacks, picnic or hot food along with you, and drinks (including alcohol) too.
There will be hot pizza available direct to your seat. More details to follow.
Moonlight Flicks is on every Wednesday – Saturday evening throughout July and August (plus some Tuesdays!), and August Bank Holiday Monday too. Screening start times change over the course of the summer. This is because the film will start once the sun goes down, ensuring it is dark enough for everyone to see the screen.
The start times on the schedule and on your ticket is the earliest possible time the film will start – the latest will be 20 minutes later. Film times vary – check the individual film pages for details.
The gates to the Roman Gardens will open 45 minutes before the scheduled start time.
So if your ticket says 9pm, the gates will open at 8.15pm, and the film will start between 9 – 9.20pm, depending on visibility.
Being outside, Moonlight Flicks can be affected by the weather. Our advice is to come as prepared as possible: warm jumpers and raincoats.
If there’s some light drizzle which is forecast to pass, we will proceed, but torrential or stormy weather may mean we have to cancel the screening. If we do that, your tickets will be exchanged or refunded. Refunds will only be offered in the event that the screening is cancelled.
It’s Britain, and even a miserable day can turn into a balmy evening, so we will be keeping an eagle eye on the weather and posting updates on moonlightflicks.co.uk each day, so make sure to pop back before your visit.
The Roman Gardens is accessible for wheelchair users, and can be accessed without steps from Pepper Street. Please note that the area from where you watch the film is on a grass lawn.
If you require an essential companion – including a guide dog – to accompany you to Storyhouse events, then you can bring a personal assistant at no charge. You will need to join the Storyhouse Access Register, read more here.
If you have any access requirements, please do let us know by calling 01244 409113, so can try to ensure any provisions or assistance are in place.
Who Can Attend
All of the individual film pages detail the age guide of that film: U, PG, 12A, 12 or 15. Anyone aged under 12 can attend a 12A with an accompanying adult over 18. For a 12 or 15 rated film, all attendees must be of that age.
If you wish to bring a dog to Moonlight Flicks, you are welcome to do so. All we ask is that they can be kept under control and don’t disturb other cinema-goers. Guide and assistance dogs are more than welcome.
Refunds and Exchanges
We do not offer refunds but can exchange tickets for another Moonlight Flicks screening (pending availability) up to 48 hours before the start of the screening time.
Exchanges are only processed on the phone and cannot be processed in person. An exchange costs £2.50 to process. To exchange, please call 01244 409 113 (option #1 £2.50 phone transaction fee applies).
